A photo exhibition titled “Room number 4″ was open on Thursday, December 5th, as part of an International campaign against arresting Palestinian children.
The exhibition is part of a campaign launched by Madaa Silwan Creative Centre, on Monday 02.12.2013 in the town of Silwan. The title “Room Number 4”, refers to the rooms where all Jerusalemites, including children are investigated. It is one of the sections of “Al-Maskobyeh” detention centre in Jerusalem. Elena Zakusilo, an Ukrainian young women, decided at her young age to leave Ukraine and go to serve in the Israeli military. On November 4th, she participated in Ukrainian TV game show, “Lie detector” The Ukrainian version of “The moment of truth”. Contestants (connected to a truth detector) answer a series of personal and embarrassing questions to receive cash prizes. During the show she reveals horrible information on her military service. Those of us who oppose the Oslo Agreement and the farce of negotiations or the two state solution, are often faced with the question: “what is your alternative?” The answer: Liberation. Many Palestinians will then follow up with, “liberation in the most hopeless era in the history of Palestinian struggle?” Yes. The necessity to envision solutions and strategies becomes bigger when we see a blocked road. This may be the best time to envision liberation, and with liberation, I mean the decolonization of Palestine. Continue reading

Many often express solidarity with Palestinians speaking only about ending the occupation that started in 1967, ignoring the root of the problem: the ethnic cleansing of 78% of historic Palestine in 1948. The occupation in 1967 was simply a completion of the plan.
Palestinian refugees (5.3 million) along with the internally displaced Palestinians, citizens of Israel who are not allowed to go back to their villages (250, 000), compose about half of the Palestinian nation (11.6 million). On Wednesday last week, four young Palestinians decided to protest against the death of Palestinian prisoner Maysara Abuhamdia, a cancer patient who died of medical neglect while in Israeli custody.
Two of the young men — Amer Nassar, 17, and his cousin Naji Biblisi, 19 — were killed at an Israeli military checkpoint during the protests. Another cousin, Diaa Nassar, 18, was arrested and the fourth young man, Fadi Abu Asal, 20, managed to escape with an injury. Continue reading
Israeli Security Ministry sponsored a meeting with Palestinian Christians religious figures and youth groups aimed to discuss recruiting Palestinian Christians (state citizens) into the Israeli Army. The initiative was set forth by Ehab Shlayan, and Arab soldier who serves as “advisor for Christian issues” in the Ministry. The Mayor of Nazareth Illit, a member in Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu party, who attended and addressed the audience. Continue reading
