Nazareth Ilit election Ad: No Arab school. Yes Jewish neighborhoods.

The current Mayor of Natzeret Ilit (Upper Nazareth), Shimon Gapso, has started already his election campaign for the next local council election expected to take place on October 22nd. His election ads, spread all over the city streets, are not about his working to develop the city, rather, how he maintained Natzeret Ilit a “Jewish” city. It’s not on how many new schools he built, rather, how he managed to prevent the establishment of an Arab school!

Gabso seems to understand well the “market”: Racism is a good campaigning strategy to gain popularity!

Here are some of these ads with English translation from Hebrew:

Ad 1: I won’t allow changing the Jewish character of the city. I will prevent building an Arab school. I will work to establish neighborhoods for Jewish residents. Any request to bring strange feature to the city- will be responded with absolute No. Natzeret Ilit is a Jewish City.” Shimon Gabso. In courage and Perseverance, Shimon Gabso

Ad 2: “Standing firm, on daily struggle, with clear public statements and undeclared actions, with courage and perseverance, we did the unbelievable: We held back the demographic deterioration.” In courage and Perseverance, Shimon Gabso

Only few months ago, Gabso made similar promises in a  flyer distributed in the city.

  1. rhetoric is not unexpected and will only increase. Its just that i did not know that it can be so blunt!

  2. the 3rd ad is mistranslated: it should say “no more clinging to a law that…” (and not “no more adventures”).
Beside that, his name is Shimon Gapso, not Gabso.
